Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has bought himself a 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. The flashy American car is one of the most expensive and rare cars in the world. The 23-year-old’s new car arrived from Miami’s Dodge factory to Australia this past September.
The Australian’s Dodge then spent two weeks at SCD American Vehicles in Brisbane — where it was converted to right-hand drive. However, Kyrgios won’t be hitting the road with his new car anytime soon as the Australian needs to replace the drag tyres on his car since they are illegal on Australian roads.
Per Kyrgios’ brother Christos, the 23-year-old doesn’t have an endorsement deal with Dodge as he paid for the car with the money from his pocket. A 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon costs around $300,000. Kyrgios is one of four people in Australia who own the car.
“A lot of these car companies want exclusivity over you when you do a deal with them,” Christos told The Canberra Times. “We’re pretty big car enthusiasts so we don’t really want to say that we’ll only drive one type of car.” Kyrgios is currently back home in Canberra, having called it a season last week.
“Nick always wanted a nice car when he grew up and tennis has given him that opportunity” Christos added. Also read: 2008 champion Jo Wilfried Tsonga receives Paris wildcard .
