Khachanov signs to Head – LOVE TENNIS Blog

With Andy Murray likely bowing out from competitive tennis at some stage in 2019 Head have moved quickly to fill the void and announced the giant Karen Khachanov has signed up with the brand.

HEAD, the global sporting brand with a focus on delivering high-performance products across a variety of athletic disciplines, just announced that it signed a long-term agreement with the current ATP Number 11 Karen Khachanov. The 22-year old Russian was a member of Team HEAD until 2015. “This is fantastic news,” says HEAD CEO and Chairman Johan Eliasch. ”At HEAD, our focus is and always will be on the high performance of our products. We collaborate very closely with players in order to bring the best tennis gear to our consumers. Karen is one of the rising stars on the Tour and
we are absolutely convinced that he has a great career ahead of him. We are very
proud to welcome him back into the family.”

2018 was a breakthrough year for Khachanov. In November he conquered the ATP-1000 throne at Paris-Bercy, edging past current ATP Number 1 and fellow HEAD player Novak Djokovic in the final. He also won the ATP-250 tournaments in Marseille and in his native Moscow earlier in the year. At 1,98m (6’6”), Khanchanov is one of the tallest players on Tour and his signature right-handed forehand is feared by the competition. “He can really hurt you,” said a respectful Novak Djokovic after the Bercy final. “His serve is really, really strong and precise.”

undoubtedly a great addition to HEAD’s impressive squad of athlete talent, the brand
focuses on more than simply the success of their players. “Of course, we love
it when our
players win,” says Eliasch, “but we especially value the feedback they provide
on our products and innovations. Our R&D team is in frequent contact with the
players and they often meet to come up with the next big thing in Tennis. Karen
is extremely
thorough and smart, we expect a very productive collaboration.”
